Vintage Portrait, Ghostly Boy, Hand Painted, Frame Made in France

I am obsessed / freaked out by this portrait. It is hand-painted on thin celluloid and the artist's talent is obvious. It is the portrait of a young boy in a victorian era sailor outfit circa early 1900s. He seems to float out of the background. But the truly haunting effect are the sad eyes that seem to look right through you. It may be a mourning piece. It has a gold toned oval frame I believe is gold plated or brass. The frame has delicate raised details and a ring to hang it from with glass cover. Unfortunately the small stand has broken off of the back and is a little rough. The frame is stamped Made in France, P. Kauffmann Fine Arts, and NY. if worn as a pendant the back would have to be secured since it relied on the stand to hold it in place. other than the stand is in good condition.
