Vintage Peterboro Basket Co. Rectangle Buffet Picnic Basket with Leather Handles and Divider Insert Lid
Founded in 1854, Peterboro Basket Company is the oldest continuous manufacturer of baskets in the U.S.A. They have strived to continue to offer the highest quality and most useful baskets for today’s home decor and gift giving; with lasting durability and quality for many generations to come.
Be the envy of the potluck with this vintage gem! This basket is officially retired, and discontinued, but is still a fine staple to start or add to your basket collection. Features braided leather handles, and two navy blue leather strips woven into the basket, for an added pop of color. What makes this basket special is not only the craftsmanship and quality, but the uniqueness of wooden dividers, with the plastic insert and plastic lid. Bottom wooden tray to keep your everything stable and secure. This is a five piece set; Peterboro basket, wooden dividers, wooden bottom tray, plastic buffet divider liner, and plastic 'basket weave' lid.
Plastic is easy to clean, but use care as it is vintage and do NOT put in the dishwasher. Peterboro stamps on all wooden pieces. The only small flaw is a tiny plastic hairline tear, as shown in picture. Overall, excellent condition for this vintage gem!

@tlm333 That makes perfect sense! I am a newer collector and have two of these but really only need one. I just assumed the 'top' was a lid of sorts, but now I can see using it for a casserole or cookies or whatever! Thank you again, I appreciate you reaching out. 🫶🏽
