Vintage PINKERTON Bing Crosby Natl. Pro Am Grandpa Cardigan Golf Sweater
- Men's Size XL
- 100% orlon acrylic (fabric tag is worn off due to age).
- This sweater is especially valuable as it bears the Bing Crosby name and not “The Bing Crosby Clambake” or “The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am” although they are one and the same essentially. This dates it to before his death in 1977 but after its inception in 1937. The roots of the Crosby National Celebrity Golf Tournament date to 1937, when Bing Crosby, the biggest star of his era and an avid golfer, decided to stage a different kind of golf event, a pro-am tournament that paired his Hollywood pals with professional golfers. The Crosby was a smash and over the years, drew some of the biggest names in golf and entertainment. After Crosby's death in 1977, the mantle was split between many other tournaments, the most popular being the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf tournament.
- MEASUREMENTS: Armpit to armpit 28" across, Length from top of shoulder 28".
- In overall good vintage condition: Bottom button is missing. There is a tiny gap between a few stitches near the label (held up to the light to make it easier to detect...see last two photos).
- Smoke-free, pet-free home.
