Vintage Norman Rockwell Jigsaw Puzzle The Saturday Evening Post By Puzzles Of Distinction. Stock No. 100. 18 x 24in Originally had 551 pieces. Missing two pieces, marks, wear, older. Would make for a cool upcycling project, or could easily be transformed into a "puzzle poster".
The model for "Dreams of Long Ago" which appeared on the Post on August 13, 1927, was a unique character named James K. Van Brunt. Rockwell himself said "The day he turned up at my studio was one of the luckiest days of my life". Van Brunt claimed that he was a veteran of Antietam. His most outstanding characteristic is his mustache, which measured a full eight inches from tip to tip. Rockwell used him in Post illustrations so often that the editors finally complained that he was overdoing it.
