Vintage Miss Elliette California Peach Chiffon Pleated Formal Ruffle Gown Dress

This beautiful Miss Elliette California vintage dress features a fitted top with a matching peach pleated chiffon skirt. The top is long sleeves and has a high-neck neckline. The chiffon is over an acetate base. It had a fabric red belt that was removed. The dress closes with a metal zipper at the back. Likely from the late 1960s, maybe very early 1970s. About the designer: Elliette Ellis moved from Montreal to New York to attend art school, where she chose a career in fashion. She married, moved to L.A. and set up her clothing business there in 1952, where she became known for specializing in feminine looking styles that often included elegant chiffon designs. Top part material is stretchy and different than the skirt part, where there is not much stretch.
