Vintage MEXICO Southwestern alpaca silver abalone paua shell tension bracelet Nice Southwestern piece with four panels of genuine natural paua or abalone shell. Stamped "MEXICO" on one side...neat place for a stamp. Tension style bracelet. About 6 3/8 inches...see pictures. Was sold to me as sterling silver, but was tested with a neodymium magnet and JSP acid and results indicate that is is alpaca silver. People used this metal to make everything from jewelry to electronics in the past. The name alpaca silver comes from alpacas are extremely hardy and can withstand high temperatures. It is a gorgeous piece with plenty of natural patina.
