Vintage Louis Rousselet French Jumbo Faux Pearl Necklace

Vintage Louis Rousselet faux pearl necklace with unusually large glass pearls, coated in the signature essence dorient, giving them their pearly sheen, hand knotted, and finished with a decorative Rousselet barrel clasp. Just shy of 30 in length, on me, its easily long enough to double (my neck is slightly smaller than my mannequins, so it lays a little lower), and in my opinion has an especially chic look that way. Rousselet was a French parurier, best known for his lamp work beads and faux pearls. He created haute couture costume jewelry for many of Frances design houses, from Chanel to Dior, Balenciaga, and more, as well as jewelry for the performers at Moulin Rouge, Casino de Paris, and les Folies Bergères. Chanel was one of his very early customers, and he produced strings of pearls for both Chanel and Dior. Rousselet also created jewelry that was sold under his own name in department stores. All of his jewelry was hand crafted in France. See photos for details.
