Vintage Lea Stein Bypass Bangle Bracelet Black, White, Gray Striped Plastic

Vintage Lea Stein Paris bypass bracelet. Acquired from a private estate collection, this modernist bangle is made of rhodoid, a hard plastic which is formed by compressed sheets of cellulose acetate. Laminated monochromatic stripe pattern with black, white, and gray layers. The bangle slips over the hand and is best suited for a small to extra small wrist. This bypass bangle is a very recognizable Lea Stein design that was produced in different colorways and is unsigned, which is typical for her work. 2.5” x 1.8” interior diameter. 0.75” width. Excellent pre-owned condition. Léa Stein (born 1931) is a French artist and accessories maker, known for her compressed plastic buttons, brooches and bracelets. She is often hailed as the most notable and innovative designer of plastic jewellery of the 20th century.
