SOLD! Vintage Large Spanish Talavera Pottery Ginger Jar - Ribbon Handles C 1950

Exquisite large lidded ginger jar that is hand painted in the Talavera style. Heavy earthenware pottery w/ribbon handles in cream w/cobalt blue, green, gold, & brick red scrolls & floral details. Talavera pottery (in Spanish: Talavera Poblana) is a Mexican & Spanish pottery tradition from Talavera de la Reina in Spain and is a type of majolica (faience) or tin-glazed earthenware, with an ivory base glaze typical of the style & represents a mixture of Italian, Spanish & Indigenous Mexican ceramic techniques. Measures 15" x 10" x 10" with lid on. Great condition, one small chip on edge of lid. Comes from the estate of a local pottery collector.
