cocoviolette the watch is not a battery watch, it is a mechanical watch - just needs to be set and would by hand. If it is not working it probably needs servicing by a watchmaker. These old watches need cleaning and servicing regularly as they can stop running if they don't get it! If it has been sitting for a long while it needs to be serviced. Any jewelry store can take a look and tell you if that is why it is not running or can show you how to wind it if you do not know.
