This vintage blue glass bottle is a Jenny Lind, open pontil flask. Made in the 1930s of thick, cobalt blue glass, it is actually a reproduction of an 1850s historical calabash flask. Seems strange to think of a reproduction made in the 1930s, but the 1850s flasks were so popular!
Jenny Lind or Johanna Maria Lind was a Swedish opera singer often nicknamed "The Swedish Nightingale". Her tour of the U.S. in 1850s was wildly popular and many of the glassworks of the time made commemorative items, including flasks.
Unusual in cobalt blue, this is a heavy bottle made of thick glass. The ribbed sides are interesting and unique. One side of the bottle features a relief of Jenny Lind, while the other side has a relief of the Empire Glassworks where this bottle was made.
Approximately 9" tall and 5" wide. The neck portion is approximately 4" tall. NO chips or damage of any kind!! It's really in amazing shape for its age!
Truly unique piece to own!
