RARE vintage Jenny Bannister white silk bias cut asymmetrical gown. Gorgeous white and pink beads and tulle strips daintily designed throughout the dress, fully lined, silky darker white string that serves as straps and connected to open tie back which can be styled a few different ways.
Size is AU 12 which is US 8 but it’s vintage, fits closer to a 4 (or small 6).
This dress is probably from the 90s or early 2000s (she stopped commercial production in ‘09). This is mostly likely part of her wedding collection.
I purchased from a vintage shop in Australia, but Ive never worn it and it’s been tucked away for 15+ years. In excellent condition, a few missing tiny white beads but virtually undetectable, could easily be replaced if desired. Perfect for your wedding, wedding party event, or white dress theme!
Pit to pit (max): 15.5 (can pull tighter)
Waist: 14
Hips: 16.5
Length (from very tip of bust NOT including straps): 51-52 long side, 28 short side
The Bannister label began at the height of the 1970s radical fashion movement, and later evolved into couture and up-market boutique styles. In 1988, Bannister successfully shifted into contemporary evening wear. Her designs are featured prominently in the Melbourne Fashion Festival and her pieces have been auctioned at Christie's in London. She was in nearly every issue of (Australian) Vogue magazine from 1980 to 1992. Her work has appeared in museums overseas (The Victoria & Albert) as well as in Australian galleries.
