Vintage Japanese Wooden? Vase With Painted Orange Flower Circa 1970s

I believe this was done in Japan in the 1970s. It’s hard to say what type of wood it is but it is relatively lightweight for size (~9 inches tall). Gray undertone with bright orange flower and black leaves with gold accents. Beautiful piece!
