This adorable plaid jumper style career girl dress is very finely made and has a 1960s mod vibe and comes from the revival of Jacques Fath's brand in 1996 when it was first designed by Tom van Lingen and, in 1997, by Elena Nazaroff. I am basing this on the label, which is the closest to the 1990s one on the Vintage Fashion Guild online designer label resource.
Fath was fond of the hourglass look, and his designs often hugged the body in a flattering way. He loved pleats and low necklines.
The fabric tag is too washed out to read so I can only guess the fabric. It feels like a very fine light wool or wool/cotton blend. It is beautifully lined in black what I think is a soft black acetate, though it could be polyester. There are cute decorative buttons on the underside of the straps and across the top, though I’m not sure why they’re there! There’s a bit of gathering at the bust. Very good condition.
Measurements taken laid flat.
