Vintage Italian shell cameo pin pendant

Belonged to my mother. Purchased in Italy. I believe it is sterling (I cleaned it with silver cleaner) but there isn’t a marking. It can be worn as a pin or a pendant. 1 1/2 x 1 1/8 inches.
