This pair of hand-made Bali Indonesian Prosperity Dolls are in excellent, like-new condition. They measure approximately 18" tall and were obtained at the estate sale of a world traveler. These particular prosperity dolls are known as "Pis Balong" and are made of genuine minted brass coins held together with cotton twine. The feet, hands, and face are carved from wood with leather ornaments which are secured to the torso and head with twine. The coins have a central square opening which is ideal to weave together as a solid frame. The leather and wood pieces are painted gold and are attached to the coins with twine. Prosperity dolls were customarily given as wedding gifts for the couple to hang on their wall, thereby ensuring wealth and prosperity.
