Vintage hand-carved from wood statues. Matching male and female pair. Facial features are intricately detailed. The woodcarver shows a high level skill set by being able to carve expression in the man’s face who almost looks like he’s smiling. It is a pleasant and calming face without being benign. In contrast the woman’s expression is more serious. Both display thinking and feeling. Detail of hair texture is clear and design of clothing is uniform indicating matching style and pattern. Note how the carver changed the angle of the pants that shows how pockets fill out with your hands inside. Like-wise the woman has one hand in a pocket so her dress is tighter on the other side giving you a feel for the fit of her dress.
