Vintage Gucci Accornero Silk African Jungle Animal Print Silk Scarf, 1970s

From the Italian fashion house Gucci, and designed by Vittorio Accornero, a vintage silk scarf with an African jungle animal and big cat theme, circa 1970s. Boldly colored and beautifully detailed, a central motif of Big Game animals – an elephant, rhino, crocodile, and giraffe – standing in an African landscape of trees and birds. The four corners show cartouches of big cats – a leopard, jaguar, tiger, and lion. The interior is completed with four scenes showing a zebra, eland, monkeys, snakes, and ostrich standing in exotic greenery A wide bold border in a rich navy blue. A hand rolled hem – signed Gucci. 34 in. Square. In very good vintage condition, with the expected light spotting. Nothing to detract.
