Vintage GOLD ENCRUSTED Japan LUSTERWARE TEAPOT / Repaired Lid / PHOENIX PANEL

This stunning teapot is fresh from an estate sale and is the second offering from a matching tea set I was fortunate enough to acquire. I cannot find another example of this decoration anywhere on the internet so I cannot give you much information. The outside has a rough, pebbled surface encrusted with gold and a hand-painted blue phoenix panel. The interior and underside are an iridescent white lusterware that reflects blue, purple, and green. Stylistically, the teapot strikes me as part of the 1930’s Art Deco movement. Make of it what you will. It measures 8 1/2 inches from handle to spout and is 5 3/8 inches tall. There are no chips or cracks, but the knob on top of the lid has been glued back on (see photos).
