Vintage Franciscan USA Desert Rose 8" Round Footed Compote Bowl made in California from 1941 to 1978. Desert Rose earthenware pedestal dish, with hand-painted pink and green embossed floral designs. It measures 3 3/4" tall and 8" in diameter. The bowl is in good condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or stains. It has a USA makers mark stamped on the bottom. Franciscan Desert Rose production began in 1941 by Gladding McBean and Co. in California. The company operated as Interpace from 1962 until 1979. They were sold to the Wedgwood company in England in 1979 and by 1984 all production ended in the US. The Desert Rose pattern remains one of the bestselling dinnerware lines in US history.
