Vintage Harris Tweed Coat made for Forsyth of Edinburgh on The Royal Mile Edinburgh. Handwoven in the Outer Hebrides 100% Scottish grown wool. Lining is in excellent condition. Purchased in 1985 in Scotland. Coat has been in storage and was dry cleaned before storing.
This was my grandmother's coat and she cared for it well. I hope it goes to a good home. The coat is extremely well made and is a testament to the durability and quality of Harris Tweed.

@lrbsaunders hi I am so sorry, we had a death in the family. I will get the measurements tonight.

@lrbsaunders The shoulder isn't cut like a regular shoulder, the seam is much closer to the neck, so I've measured based on where the shoulder would normally fall so there are a few estimated measurements.
The circumference from armpit to shoulder is 28" based on the seam, based on where it would normally fall estimate is 24"
Based on where a traditional shoulder falls, the estimated width from shoulder to shoulder 21"

@lrbsaunders Upper arm circumference 17"
Forearm circumference 16"
Wrist circumference 14.5"
Armpit to armpit 22"
Waist Width 23"
Hip Width 25"
Bottom Width 27"
Front length 46"
These are estimates because again, the shoulder seam isn't in the normal place.
Neck to traditional shoulder 10"
Traditional shoulder 23"

@lrbsaunders It's an extremely well made coat and my grandmother was very proud of it. She looked quite smart in it.
Again, my apologies for the delay in replying. Just for disclosure purposes, the death in the family was due to old age and not COVID. I feel awkward for even saying that but it's 2020.

@littlebitva thank you so much for all of this information! It is a really beautiful coat -- I am going to need to remeasure myself, as the measurements you listed are pretty close to the last time I measured without a lot of room left over.
I am also very sorry for your loss.

I had a similar Harris Tweed coat for 20 years, would love to have one again !

@esgbwg1968 a little late in replying, the coat needs a good home, I'm fairly firm on the price but I can discuss any offers with my aunt, she has the finally say.

If I decide to purchase it, it will go to a very good home-my home- here in the mountains of Western North Carolina. I will certainly care for it in memory of your grandmother. I have done a lot of reading about the Hebrides. I would certainly love to own a Harris Tweed. The Scottish settled in these mountains in WNC, en masse well over a century ago. I am currently sailing out right now on a cruise. I will touch base in about one week. Also. Where are you located? Thank you.

@glenntop1 I love that you are in WNC. I'm in New York but my family is from Patrick County, VA. I haven't been down that way in a few years but I truly do miss those mountains. Enjoy your trip, safe journeys.
