Vintage Floral Painted Pyrography Round Lidded Wooden Folk Art Trinket Box

- Medium sized, round wooden box with a fitted lid, painted with orange daisy-like flowers and green leaves on the outside, and similarly colored bird figures on the lid - Lid has a nice round wood ball handle which is stained dark brown, and coated with a clear enamel - Possible origins from the former Yugoslavia, and circa 1950s based on research conducted on this piece and given where I got it from - Hand painted with what looks to be an oil-based paint, with a clear enamel finish, and burned with little dots around the shapes in a technique known as pyrography - Very solid in its wood construction, but also lightweight for what it is, however, there is definitely wear on the piece, specifically with the paint and coating. Oil based paints tend to yellow and crack over time so you can see the subtle cracks all around the piece, some chipping and nicks in various places - The bottom has a tan paper coating which has succumbed to some fraying on the perimeter, and there is staining on the bottom, including the inside lid and inner portion of box - Great for your vintage home, and for storing a plethora of items like jewelry, keys, tea bags, or other little trinkets Measurements: - Length: 4 1/4", including lid; 2 3/4" just bottom; 2" just lid - Width: 4 3/8" - Depth: 2 1/4"
