Vintage emerald green planter in the late Art Deco/early Mid Century Modern style. This piece is asymmetrical with waves impressed on both sides evoking the sloshing of ocean. The shape, color and glaze technique gives this piece a wonderfully watery feel.
UPCo (Ungemach Pottery Company) was founded in the 1930s in the Roseville, OH area. Ungemach (1900-1984), had worked for the Nelson McCoy Pottery as a boy and later for Ransbottom Pottery (RRP Co). A very underrated pottery house! This is just one example of the lovely work they produced throughout the years.
This piece measures 9 in long, 5.5 in wide and is 2 3/4 - 3 in tall due to asymmetrical shape. This piece is in excellent vintage condition with no cracks or chips. Marked Ungemach 257 USA on the bottom.
