Made from vintage Cracker Jack premium prize charms - famously repurposed by Cracker Jill. History and childhood memories make this a fun and totally unique fashion statement.
Seven painted Buster Brown & Tige charms and two Scotty dogs have been fashioned into a fun tie-on necklace. All collectable premium Cracker Jack prizes from the 1930’s. Painted metal charms tied onto black waxed string.
Buster Brown charms measure 1-1/4” x 5/8” each. Total length about 29”. Condition: some wear and rubbing to paint; string around the dogs is glued in place.
Cracker Jack ceased making metal toys in 1942 and, replaced by paper and plastic toys, they drifted off into bygone Americana. That is until Peggy Shure and Lynn Foster discovered barrels full of the original toys in a Chicago warehouse. Thus, Cracker Jill Jewelry was born in the 1970s. They created colorful tiny-toys formed into necklaces, bracelets and other items containing one or many of the toys.
Cracker Jill creations were once sold at the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Museum of Science & Industry and department stores worldwide. They have now become treasured collector's items in their own right.
