Aaron, Mabel (1858-1944) (Stockton)
Mabel Aaron was born 1858 to Elizabeth J. Aaron and Henry Aaron and is listed as an “artist” in the Stockton, Ca., city directory, 1893 and 1897. The first newspaper notice of her artwork appears in 1884 when she was applauded for her china painting shown in a Stockton exhibit.
In 1888 she was a third-year student at the Sacramento School of Design held at the Crocker Art Gallery. The landscape paintings she exhibited at the California State Fair in 1889 showed enough talent to be complimented by reviewers in local newspapers.
An 1892 newspaper described her as “retiring in disposition,” a painter in both oil and watercolor. Displaying 750 of 1144 characters
M. Aaron is an artist whose works are primarily floral still-life paintings, often appearing on the market under a studio painting name, where a group of painters collaborate to produce art for wall decor, according to a post on JustAnswer.com [1, 3]. While the signature "M. Aaron" may not correspond to a specific individual artist, the paintings are often characterized by their floral motifs and oil-on-canvas medium.
