Vintage Claret Jug Faceted Cut Glass Silver Plated Beverage Cooler Insert

This is a heavy solid cut glass claret jug / pitcher made around mid century (1950s) or earlier in Italy. The claret is made of thick glass that has been cut and faceted all over the bottom 1/2 of the pitcher. The cut glass creates a diamond like detail design. The pitcher has a silver plated metal top and lid with ornate scrollwork along the handle edge. The lid flips up and reveals a single glass cylinder meant to hold ice and cool the beverage inside the jug. The beverage cooling cylinder has a silver plated screw top lid. The lid has a small handle across the top of the lid which allows for the cylinder to be easily removed from the body of the pitcher where it fits perfectly snug all the way to the top of the lid. That handle lets the cylinder slide in and out as necessary. The pitcher is quite large measuring approximately 16 inches tall and 8 inches wide at the base.
