Vintage Canadian Artist L. Brown Block Print, Framed Art, Winnipeg History, 1970

Vintage 1970's block print by artist L. Brown. The print is framed in a contemporary metal frame with no glass. The print is very striking and crisp. It has the interplay of various geometric shapes and architectural elements. Multiple panels are tied together with the black and white theme and anchored by a large central circle which mimics the effect of a magnifying glass pulling in to view the architectural elements close up. There are marbling, cloud-like shapes and floral elements that release the art from a too-linear and too-geometric focus. The eyes move all around from element to element, yet nothing is disjointed. The whole piece is harmony. Discovered in Montana in a small town of western-themed decor! Print is titled: "Winnipeg Windows, Christmas Flowers and the Day After New Year's Day 5/20 L. Brown '74" Nice piece of Winnipeg and Canadian artist' history. I could not find another print circulating online at time of this posting- RARE. Size: 25.25" x 20.25" x 1" (framed dimensions). Condition: Very good vintage condition. Very mild toning of paper. Block lines are crisp and textured (early pressing). Signed and titled by artist in pencil in lower margin. NPK- (psh, Eb)
