Stylish black varsity jacket with bold yellow accents. Perfect for a casual, sporty look. This jacket has no branding. It is from 1957 and was manufactured in England for American servicemen who were stationed at Wetterfield field.
I have a letter establishing its provenance dated 2013, when I purchased this jacket. There are some stains on the satin? Or silk inner lining.
I would estimate this jacket to be a large/small XL by today’s standards. I am 5’ 10” 190 pounds and this jacket fits me perfectly. It is not bulky like standard letterman’s jackets. It is sleek and fits well without the burden of being bulky.
It is extremely heavy without being bulky, and constructed well. The zipper is heavy duty. Everything about this jacket is period correct. I will include the letter from its previous owner. The jacket will need to be dry cleaned. It does not have any foul smells or rips, tears, etc. just some spotting staining on the inside liner. There is a small amount of cat hairs on the jacket. I have rolled it several times with a sticky roller but there a some small hairs that dry cleaning will take care of.
I live in a rural area with the nearest competent dry cleaner at least 2.5 hours away. That is why I am not getting done prior to sale. However, I have reduced my asking price to reflect a cleaning.
