Vintage Barber Shop Leather Blade Sharpening Tool George Worthington Strop Strap

The Geo. Worthington Co. was a wholesale Hardware company located in Cleveland, Ohio. It was started by a 16 year old George Worthington in 1829. The advent of the railroad and the Civil War stimulated the company's growth. By 1870 the firm began issuing yearly catalogs as sales reached $1.5 million, and incorporated in 1887. The strap has the Geo Worthington logo, the words Self Honing and some other instructions on the strap (see pic) This leather strap no doubt was something that was sold in the hardware stores or in the catalog that followed. It was owned by someone from Cleveland, OH. So it likely has only had one owner. Condition: excellent antique condition with some patina. The leather has been well taken care of and has no damage other than slight patina, a little glue on the backside where the metal attaches.
