Vintage Banana Bread Bakelite Necklace with Matched Graduated Oval Beads. Fabulous Bakelite Necklace in swirling yellow and brown, hence the nickname Banana Bread. Bakelite is an early type of plastic. It was very popular in the 1920s-1950s. It was invented in 1907. It is a Thermoset Plastic. It was used to make a wide range of items, including jewelry. The Necklace was restrung with Beige Thread and NEW (1980s-Now) Antique Brass (Bronze) Chain and Clasp. I really like the way the intentionally oxidized brass blends with the beads.
