Faux amethyst & pearl Avon Queensburg vintage ring 1974 Faux amethyst & 2 tiny faux pearls in an antique-looking ring. Some of the plating has worn down (u can see in pics) but very little is seen when wearing. I think it adds to the antique look Built inside is a nifty gadget: a U-shaped spring that allows different sized fingers to wear this Size medium( 6/7) Amethyst is February's birthstone, this would make a great gift

nanasjewelbox @tracyd85614 usually what's what's under plating is referred to a "base metal" or "jeweler's metal". Why do you ask?

tracyd85614 @nanasjewelbox I was looking at this same ring in another closet and they were talking about wear. If the gold wears off I don't want my finger to turn green.

nanasjewelbox @tracyd85614 Ok. well, this ring , and that one, was made in 1974, so at this point there's no telling what the actual metal is. what I recommend is wearing it for a few hours and if you think you see green clean ring well then coat it with clear nail polish. that will keep the metal from touching your skin. These old rings are nice but I wouldn't wear it all day everyday. And don't get it wet. Take off to wash your hands. It'll last longer that way.
