Vintage Antique Walrus/Sea Lion Bookends

Antique and unique pair of vintage bookends. Appear to be hand carved from wood and the walrus or sea lion carved from some type of shell or horn?? Not sure. Underside on of the bookends is writing that has faded ‘France’ with a date ‘Dec xx’ and a year unknown. Each measures 4 1/2 inches in height. 5 3/4 inches wide and depth is 3 inches. Bottoms have some type of soft felt like paper. One bookend is missing tiny screw and foot appears to have been glued. There is also wear on wood corners and a small hole. Were stored. Smoke and pet free home.
