Lovely blue silk scarf from midcentury American fashion designer Anne Fogarty for David E Schwab, author of 1957 book 'The Story of Lace and Embroidery and Handkerchiefs' and owner of handkerchief and lace goods company David E Schwab & Company.
Fogarty was a significant figure in fashion - especially for youthful looks - throughout the 1950s & 1960s, emphasizing classic silhouettes and versatility as she designed first for Saks Fifth Avenue and then her own business, Anne Fogarty, Inc. (She also wrote a book in 1959 entitled 'Wife Dressing' on how to dress for one's husband - definitely a time capsule of the era!)
Fringed edges.
Signed in white in bottom corner.
100% silk.
Made in Japan.
Very good vintage condition. Recently dry-cleaned. Some light watermarks on body of scarf. See all pics. (Last two pics are '50s-'60s photos.)
