Vintage Amy Kahn Russell Pin/Pendant AKR silver

This is from my mother's estate. She had all vintage, pre-QVC, pre-mass consumer AKR. It is a beautiful and unique sterling silver brooch. I believe the stone is cornelian agate. 2.5 inch W x 2.5 inch H Amy Kahn Russell, a forerunner in the naturalistic jewelry trend, created this one-of-a-kind pin/pendant. A fine arts graduate of Tulane, her designs have been inspired by motifs and cultures she encountered while traveling abroad. Although Amy now resides in the United States, she incorporates unusual artifacts and stones collected worldwide into her dramatic jewelry. These one-of-a-kind pieces were from my mother's estate. She could not leave the house but liked looking at beautiful, handmade things. I have inherited these pieces, and I have kept my favorites.
