Vintage Alabama State Tax Token

Alabama State Tax Commission Luxury Tax Token, which was used in the 1930s to collect sales tax. These tokens were used to pay sales tax on luxury items, and could be purchased from the state and then used at checkouts. The token in the image is worth 5 mills, which is equal to 0.005 USD. These tokens were used in 1937-1938.
