Avirex Ltd. Was founded in 1975, producing original military designs for the A-2, G-1, and B-3 jackets. By 1978, the US Air Force began to purchase A-2 flight jackets, which led to Avirex becoming an official government supplier. Eventually they supplied more government agencies; US Navy, US Army, NASA, and several international armed forces.
In 1983 Avirex provided authentic flight jackets for the film “The Right Stuff”, again in 1986 for “Top Gun” and later still to Sylvester Stallone in “Rocky III”. Presidents Bush and Obama were known to wear Avirex flight jackets on Air Force One.
While the flight jacket continues to be available today, the original Boots as seen here, are long out of production. This pair is one of the very few remaining original Army-Air Forces, pilot’s Boots, produced under the 1978 government contract. In near new condition, they are perfectly wearable, even though a collector’s item or a museum piece. Notice that these boots are built over a steel shank as in the tradition of Western boots.
Size: 10.5D US…..9.5E UK…..44D Continental, for the medium width foot.
Condition: Excellent, all original and near new. Bottoms showing wear consistent with perhaps one or two wearings. Sold without trees.
