This is a beautiful, vintage RED Delft pottery Stein or Mug, Handcrafted/Painted
for the Brasserie Lorraine, (which is a microbrewery in Martinique).
*Red delft is more difficult to produce than blue delft - and as a result, more expensive.
Made in Holland. A unique and rare piece of delft!
Dated April 1994.
Noted "MBAA" which stands for 'Master Brewer's Association of the Americas' (?)
- Martinique is a constituent of the French Republic - so perhaps something to do with the
- affiliations in the microbrewery?
Holds 2 full cups (16 oz) of liquid (beer) - or your choice!
It has minor shelf wear, and minor crazing only on the bottom of the mug, (to be expected for the age,)
- but has no interior scratches, chips or other flaws -
- and no disruptions or wear in the painted glaze.
Would make a beautiful addition to someone who is searching for eclectic pieces to accent their 'home tavern';
Especially precious for someone who has affiliations or has visited this part of the world.
This is a treasure that can be used - BUT:
* Hand wash only and no microwave! (who would microwave beer?) LOL
