LOS BALLESTEROS In 1937 Jalil Majul Ballesteros was trained to do filigree work by his silversmith grandfather and godfather in Iguala, Mexico. The Ballesteros family had been silversmiths for generations in Guerreo and Jalil continued their tradition by starting a small family business. In 1941 he moved to Taxco, Mexico and switched to the style of the regional silversmiths. By the 1950's Jalil had expanded and was selling handmade Mexican silver jewelry to tourists in Mexico City, Acapulco, Puebla and Cuernavaca.
