I purchased this coat at an estate sale where owner had been a model in her younger years. The Label (only tag) says “Haggarty’s Southern California,” which is a Dept. store that operated from 1905 to 1970.
The coat has raglan sleeves. There is one heavy duty snap closure at the neck. There is also a decorative tie closure. The coat has 2 pockets.
I had tailor add snaps to the fur trim so it can be removed. You can wear the coat 3 ways – with the fur collar open or closed (there is a big hook and eye closure); or without the fur.
Color: Black & White
Material: I believe this coat is made of 100% wool. The wool is a weave of black yarn and white yarn (see photos).
The lining is black silk or satin; I don’t think it's rayon. The fur looks like high quality mink to me - it is very glossy and fluffy.
Measurements: No tag. I wear Medium. See exact measurements:
Underarm seam to underarm seam (across back): 25 ½ inches
Bottom of collar to End of Raglan sleeve: 30 inches with fur; 29 inches without fur
Underarm Seam to Cuff End: 17 ½ inches with fur; 16 ½ inches without fur
Underarm Seam to Underarm Seam (Across front): 24 inches
Length (Bottom of back Collar to Hem): 42 inches
Condition: Very good except for one small moth hole – see 2 photos (closeup & far away with pencil). There are also 2 photos where I point with my fingernail to places that may have been repaired by the previous owner, not sure.
Non-smoking household. I do not wear perfume.
