Vintage 60s Black Wool Fringed Cape Dress Ruth Saltz

Vintage 60s Black Wool Fringed Cape Dress (Ruth Saltz?) Incredibly unique vintage dress. Features an attached cape / poncho with fringe hanging in a v on both the front and back over a satin sleeveless shell top attached at the empire waist to the wool skirt. Zips up the back. This piece is a bit of a delightful mystery to me - the inside lining is stamped Ruth Saltz, who was a well known handbag designer in the 60s and 70s. To the best of my knowledge and research, she did not design any clothing. I don't know whether this was a sample / test piece, or whether the lining from a handbag was repurposed, etc. Regardless of the story behind it, it's a beautifully tailored and high quality garment that is so very chic and timeless. SIZE / MEASUREMENTS Approximate measurements taken with garment laying flat. Pit to pit: 17" (inside "shell" used for measurement) Waist: 15" across Hips: 16" across Shoulder to hem: 45" No stretch in this garment. Fits like a modern size xs.
