Vintage #3 Wagner Ware Sidney -0- 1053B Cast Iron Skillet

Vintage Wagner Ware Sidney -0- 1053B smooth bottom with the Stylized Logo. Reconditioned and seasoned 2 times with flax oil. Slight wobble but is suitable for glass top, electric element or gas stove. A solid pan with only a couple very minor casting pits on the underside. Smooth cooking surface with minimal sign of wear. Cast Iron Skillets make excellent gifts and can be passed down from generation to generation. The memories created will last forever just as the skillet will with proper care. At some point in the stylized logo's history, shortly after the introduction of the smooth bottom skillet, it would appear, an interesting variation occurred. The catalog number (1053) and pattern letter were repositioned a little higher, the wording "CAST IRON SKILLET" was added in a downward curve at the 6 o'clock position, and the stylized logo was surrounded by a border which happened to form a wedge shape (1053A). This would come to be known as the "pie logo", due to the similarity to the shape of a slice of pie. Skillets so marked would become some of the most collectible Wagners. Pie logo skillet production appears to have only spanned at most a ten year period, and the reason for its discontinuance is not known. After 1959 the "SIDNEY -O-" was removed from the logo.
