This sturdy, tightly woven cotton twill fabric was perfect to make peaked caps that could protect them from the ashes and cinder coming from the steam engines. It was then used to make work overalls and jackets and became the famous American railroad worker uniform. This uniform was easily discernable from a distance and the striped fabriccould conceal more easily oil stains and dust). Gorgeous vintage overalls in great condition.
