This is a real South African 50 cent coin from 1961. Only minted and in circulation for four years, it is made of silver and toned gold. The toning and condition of the coin are excellent with a little bit of loss to the toning along the top edge on the obverse (side with the springbok). There are very few coins available with the toning in this good condition. Not graded and set in a gold-tone pendant. Beautiful and stunning! The obverse shows a Springbok (slender Antelope in found in Africa), and the reverse is a portrait of Jan Van Riebeeck. I do not know coins and have based the value compared to others listed for sale on ebay. The coin is as pictured.
