The rayon (?) taffeta dress dates to the mid 50s- The four dart bodice is classic mid-century, but this bodice is VERY interestingly cut with an extremely wide square neckline, with the top of the 3/4 sleeves forming the outer edge of the neckline. The skirt is quite full, cut in that late 50s/early 60s tulip/barrel shape with a center box pleat, and deep pleats on either side of that center front pleat for fullness. The skirt back is cut in a flared shape, and darted into the waist. The bodice of the dress has cotton batiste for a neckline facing, but it is otherwise unlined. The skirt, however, is fully lined in the cotton batiste. It zips up the center back with its original metal zipper. It is pictured over two crinolines, not included. The rhinestone pin is also not included. No pockets.
Clean and sturdy, this dress has no labels--it appears to be nicely home or dressmaker-made. It measures like a contemporary 4-6 or Small. The waist is JUST under 26" ----but there IS room to let out at LEAST an inch at the waist, as the zipper placket is quite generous--see photo. The hem is also quite generous with at least 3.5" to let down.
Bust: 36"
Waist: snug 26" ( at least an inch to let out--so up to 27")
