Vintage 1920s Banko Ware Elephant Teapot With Rider DAMAGED
Banko ware is a type of Japanese pottery that originated in the Mie prefecture in the 18th century. Banko ware, also known as Yokkaichi Banko ware, is a traditional Japanese craft and a major type of stoneware used for cooking in Japan. It was created by Nunami Rouzan, a wealthy merchant who combined Japanese tastes with foreign influences like Chinese porcelain and Dutch textiles. The name comes from the phrase "Bankofueki," which means "eternity constancy"
