Victorian Venetian Micro Mosaic Four Part Linked Colorful Panel Bracelet

B49. Victorian Venetian (?) Glass Micro Mosaic (?) colorful Bracelet. Beautiful specimen from days gone by! Gold tone (faded/brassy). Is the base metal Gold? Plated over sterling? Filled? Brass? Mixed? Our magnet does not stick. Some tarnish/darkening to the “metal” on back side. See pix. Bracelet is rather small, geared towards a small wrist. Clasp works, but crudely made. Will need a better clasp in my opinion. Very little mosaic loss, not much we can see… few pieces here & there. I may have missed some, forgive me. Not perfectly symmetrical. As with all of our items, this comes to you as is, as found. Pieces seem to be glass. To the eye & to touch. We tried to do our homework on this, & think we got it right. If the history is important, pls do your own research to ensure accuracy. Be sure to review all pix. Can’t guarantee age, origin, condition or materials. FYI: There are several types of mosaics: Venetian, Roman & Florentine. Venetian: artisans used a wide variety of shapes in the glass tiles to form the design. Roman: very tiny pieces of colored glass, call tesserae, were pieced together to form a picture, & were held in place with cement in a glass or stone background Florentine: design pietra dura (literally, “hard stone”) were cut, shaped & fitted together, somewhat like a jigsaw puzzle to produce a picture. Normally used a bed of black marble as the foundation so they have a black background. Florentine designs normally used larger tiles. Thank you! 😊
