Victorian Hand Brooch, Mother of Pearl, Pointing Finger

Delightful example of the Victorian obsession with symbolism - one of the favorite subjects of the time were hands. This darling little brooch is simple and yet so finely detailed. Carved from luminous mother of pearl shell, it glows with an almost ghostly shine, carefully sculpted into a gently pointed finger. Wire details appear to be rolled gold. Older C clasp has loosened a bit over time, is slightly crooked, but still functioning well. There are no chips, cracks or damage to this beauty - only minor signs of age, as pictured - but it should still be treated gently.
