Antique Victorian 10k Solid Gold Watch Fob Early 1800's.. Has a secret compartment behind the dark green bloodstone, with a picture of a little girl. About 11 inches long & weighs a whopping 85 grams. One of the 5 attached chains got loose on one side (easy repair). Other than that, it's in excellent condition for it's age. Super rare & definitely one of a kind watch fob. This piece reminds me of something you might see on the "Antique Road Show"... A must have, for those collector's out there!!! If you'd like more photos, send me a message. Feel free to make an offer!

ae_jewelry_coin When will this be for sale

vintagefinds101 @ae_jewelry_coin It's actually currently for sale. First want to confirm its gold content. Do you have any knowledge about these types of watch fobs? I believe it's 10k or 12k. It might be gold filled or solid. Not sure, but will test it by or before Tuesday to know for sure. Weighs over 85 grams. Definitely one of a kind! Any info regarding era, etc would be appreciated. I'm assuming it's early 1800's? Thank you kindly.

ae_jewelry_coin @vintagefinds101 Hi there! Yes, most of these are gold filled. Of course some can also be 10-12K. I've started to buy these for myself, actually. I used to only wear white gold or sterling. Now I am gearing toward any color that peaks my interest. This necklace certainly does look like 1800's. Will you be getting this necklace x-rayed?

vintagefinds101 @ae_jewelry_coin Thanks for your response. I'm curious, what's the benefit of getting it x-rayed? Is it because of the weight?
Sep 28Reply
ae_jewelry_coin
ae_jewelry_coin @vintagefinds101 X-rayed will give exact percentages of all the metals that made the necklace and pendant. That way you know exactly what karat the necklace is and what to charge. Regardless if it is gold or just gold filled, I really want ittttttt hahah

vintagefinds101 @ae_jewelry_coin Where do they offer such service? The jeweler could perform an acid test for gold content, right? I've never heard of the x-ray one. Interesting.
Sep 28Reply
ae_jewelry_coin
ae_jewelry_coin @vintagefinds101 I would steer away from acid test because you don't want to damage the item. Plus, acid test does not really test true purity but an estimation as to what it would be. X-ray machine is very expensive so you would have to call around and see who would have one.

vintagefinds101 @ae_jewelry_coin What's the estimated cost for the x-ray? Thanks.

cristeve is the locket stamped 10k and is the chains and other end gold ??
Jul 04Reply
vintagefinds101
vintagefinds101 @cristeve It's not stamped 10k, which is not unusual for an old piece like this. It was however confirmed 10k gold by a jeweler. The entire piece is gold, excluding the bloodstone. Thanks.

alaska_kirsty @vintagefinds101 I’d love to have it, but really have my eye on your emerald bracelet. It matches my emerald engagement ring like it was MADE for it. So dropping a hint to future hubby right now about it (aka texting him the link lol!).

jerryheather122
jerryheather122 First thing, Do NOT ship this to anyone. Most likely you would never see it again. it was very rare to stamp gold in early 1800's so who cares if its not stamped. X-ray is definitely what you need to do. If you have a local goodwill take it there and ask the manager to x-ray. Every goodwill has a x-ray. What a beautiful rare piece you have.
