VTG Union Made Cloche Velvet Purple Indigo Double Bow C. 1940’s 1950’s Hat

This is a vintage royal purple indigo velvet hat that looks to be from the 1930’s or 1940’s in ridiculously pristine condition for the age. Very classy! Royal Purple with a matching hat band fastened in a 2 layer bow in a deep indigo shade. I’ve seen similar listings say the style is 1920’s flapper hats, but based on tag & material it’s C. Late 30’s to early 40’s. The style was also worn by women in the later 1890’s. Double bow at the hat band and the tag inside says Union Made with the numbers 464201. I can see there’s a little tiny hole in the back bow for a hat pin so I stuck a Pearl one in to show you what it would look like. (Hat pin not included) There are gathers and pleats at the brim. There’s a couple press marks on the velvet at the top back, likely from hat box storage. Reminds me of something the Black Dahlia would’ve worn. I’m shocked it’s in this level of condition. If you collect vintage clothing & hats you’ll love this! I’ve been debating on keeping it in my collection, it really is stunning. Can be worn “down” as pictured or “up” as to frame your face, almost like a bonnet. It is slightly longer in the front for this purpose. The underside is just as clear and gorgeous as the top. Shockingly, I can’t find any fading. I have never seen a vintage hat quite like this one! Rockabilly retro 40’s or 50’s styling.
