The history is so interesting,
“Tussie-mussie” is a term from the early 1400s for small, round bouquets of herbs and flowers held by ladies out on streets and in carriages to keep close by to ward off the terrible smells of horses and street garbage. “Tussies” are flowers, “Mussies” are the damp Moss they sat in to stay fresh.
Now they were also used at weddings, as
Mini planters, or on Christmas trees to put small gifts inside. Vintage pieces had silver tri-pods to rest in on a table. England aristocracy still use them today as nosegays.
